The Huddle

School Sport Australia Swimming Championships

Giselle Tapfield continued her amazing representative journey this year when she was selected in the NSW All Schools Swim team to compete at the School Sport Australia Swimming Championships. She went close to a medal finishing 4th in the 100m Freestyle. This was an outstanding achievement as she swam a massive PB improving her time by 1.14 seconds! Giselle also finished 7th in the final of the 50m Butterfly.

Giselle stated, “ the highlight was representing NSW and meeting new people.”

Giselle's aim is to compete at the Olympics one day.  Congratulations Giselle, a swim star of the future!

Magnificent 7

In bleak conditions at the Geteila synthetic field in Alexandria the Kambala 7 Soccer team showed what the Kambala spirit is all about. Playing with only seven players against a full- strength St Scholastica's team,  the "Magnificent 7" from Kambala were a true inspiration to all on hand to witness their courage, resilience and determination to play on and exhibit some inspiring defence. Going down 6-2 was a commendable effort given the situation they faced.

Special mention to Alaia Bracher and Emma Simunovic, who each had one half as goalkeeper in very challenging circumstances.

It's not always about winning but putting in your best effort no matter what hurdles are faced.

A brave effort indeed.

IGSA Athletics

Final preparations are taking place for the upcoming IGSA Athletics Carnival with the squad competing each Friday night at Sydney Athletics Centre Homebush.

It has been great to see how many girls have won PB socks for achieving their own personal best, sending Ms Sambell back to the shops to buy more each week!

Notable achievements last Friday night was Alina Meers 5.01m in the Long Jump and Laura Halley 1.56m in the High Jump. An athlete who turns up every week and gives 100 per cent in every event is 12-year-old Maia Onslow, she epitomises commitment and team spirit.
