R U OK? Day
Thursday 11th September, 2025
On Thursday, 11th September, ENPS will be recognising an important day called R U OK? Day. It’s a day all about checking in with each other and making sure everyone feels supported and cared for.
What is R U OK? Day?
R U OK? Day is an Australian initiative dedicated to promoting mental health and encouraging open conversations. It’s a time when we all come together to ask the simple but important question: “Are you okay?”. It’s a way to show that we care about the people around us, including friends, family, and classmates. It’s also an opportunity to learn important conversation skills that we can use any day of the year.
Why is it important?
Sometimes people may not feel comfortable talking about how they’re feeling. They might be going through a tough time or feeling overwhelmed. By asking “Are you okay?”, we open the door for conversations that help others feel understood and less alone. R U OK? Day is about building a supportive community where everyone knows they can share their feelings - not just on this day, but every day.
How can we participate?
Although R U OK? Day falls on Thursday, 11th September, at ENPS we’re celebrating with a week of lunchtime activities for students. These activities will take place in the undercover area.
How can you support at home?
You can support R U OK? Day at home too! Here are some simple ways:
Ask and Listen: Take a moment to ask family members how they’re doing and listen carefully to what they say.
Share Your Feelings: Let your children know it’s okay to talk about their feelings and that you’re always there to listen.
Model Empathy: Show empathy and encourage open conversations about emotions and wellbeing.
We have also attached an activity choice board below with a range of simple and effective activities you can do at home to promote positive wellbeing strategies.
Remember, asking “Are you OK?” can make a big difference in someone’s day. We encourage you to visit https://www.ruok.org.au/ to learn more about building positive mental health strategies.
