Year Five Addiction Project
As adults we all know about the effects of different types of addiction. The Year Fives have just started a research project to find out firstly what it means to be addicted to something and then secondly the effects of alcohol, drug or smoking/vaping on the human body. Research has shown that the simple message of “Say No to Drugs” hasn’t had the desired effect so the students have started researching to find out for themselves what happens over a prolonged period of time when being exposed to these. They will present these to the class over the coming weeks before the end of term.
The students will use websites, YouTube clips and images to help answer teacher driven questions and put together their findings on a poster. They are totally engaged and very interested in a topic that is quite often not discussed but is important for them to understand as they begin to enter adolescence.
