NCD Athletics Carnival at Charlton

On Friday 15th of August, 17 eager and energetic secondary students ventured to Charlton for the NCD Athletics. Mr P didn’t realise how busy he was going to be running the shot-put event, so it was fantastic to have some of our senior students step up to ensure everyone knew where they were going and events were not missed. It was also pleasing to see students stepping into vacant events and doing very well. Students represented the College proudly and gave their best. We had some great results on the day with a number of places. A massive thank you to Mr Pearce for assisting on the day.

Year 10 Badminton

Year 10 students over the past few weeks have began creating, planning and running their own badminton tournament. Students have roles to complete each week to assist in the smooth running of the tournament, learning cooperative and collaborative skills by working together. Students also get the opportunity to develop their racquet skills and strategy through playing games each week. Last Wednesday saw our Round 1 matches begin, involving singles and doubles games. It was a great atmosphere in Steele Stadium with music and game details up on the big screen and all students actively involved in playing, umpiring, scoring and collecting data. Great job to all the Year 10 students!

Introducing: The Impossible Shot

At the beginning of Term 3. Mr McCullum and Mr P introduced students to ‘The Impossible Shot’. Students who demonstrate the College values and expected behaviours are nominated during HPE classes each week. If a student is nominated, they automatically receive ONE entry into the draw to win a $200 Rebel Sport voucher. They also get to attempt ‘The Impossible Shot’, where they are allowed 1 throw. It is a difficult task, but if successful, they receive an additional THIRTY entries into the draw. At the time of writing, no student has made the impossible shot but there has been some very close efforts. It has been fantastic to see so many students in PE demonstrating our expected behaviour and producing some great work. The draw for term 3 will be conducted during the final week 9, our last week of term. Keep your efforts high everyone, a successful shot is CLOSE!
