Dear Parents and Friends,
We hope you all managed to keep warm over the chilly weekend. It’s lovely to see the children return refreshed and ready for another great week of learning and activities at St Fidelis.
A huge congratulations to Joe for his outstanding initiative in hosting the STEMMAD (STEM – Making a Difference) Showcase at St Fidelis. As many of you may know, MACS was not offering this event in 2025. Still, Joe stepped forward, invited other schools to participate, and created a truly inspiring day of learning, creativity, and collaboration. With such strong demand for opportunities where children can share their learning in innovative and creative ways, last Thursday’s event was an incredible success.
Joe also engaged external judges to assess the projects, and we are hopeful that some of our students may be selected to progress to the National Showcase in Adelaide later this year.
A special thank you goes to the participating schools, our judges, all the Year 5/6 students who designed and presented their prototypes with such confidence, and to the families who came along to support the day.
Please take a moment to read Joe's news and view images in the Learning & Teaching page of today's newsletter.
Congratulations to the Under 12 West Coburg Football Team on their Grand Final victory! It was an exciting and close game, and we are especially proud of the St Fidelis boys who represented our school with such determination and team spirit. Well done to all involved, what a fantastic achievement!
A special mention to Zara Azzopardi winning her footy grand final, Strathmore Division One, on Saturday.
Our Brunswick Moreland Catholic Community Parishes Meeting will be held next Sunday, 24 August. All parishioners are invited to gather at St Ambrose Church, Sydney Road, at 10.30 am for Mass.
Following Mass, there will be hospitality, after which our parish meeting will commence at 12.00 midday.
The purpose of the meeting is to share with parishioners the work that has been done in creating a Strategic Pastoral Plan for our parishes. Our final plans will only be as good as the participation and ownership that is created by our parishioners. I encourage all who can to come along next Sunday and to participate in the future direction of Brunswick Moreland Catholic Community.
We’re looking for a parent volunteer to coordinate our Scholastic Book Club. The role involves distributing catalogues, submitting orders, and helping sort books once they arrive. The time commitment is just a few hours twice a term, and you’ll have plenty of support along the way. No experience is needed, just a love of books and a willingness to help. If you’re organised, friendly, and enjoy being part of our school community, we’d love to hear from you.
Please contact the school office or email me at principal@sfmoreland.catholic.edu.au if you’re interested.
As I always say, “many hands make light work,” and we are so grateful for the generosity of our St Fidelis parents.
Our School Advisory Council will meet on Tuesday, August 19th at 7:00 pm. We thank our parent representatives for their continued support and commitment to our school community.
Our Parents and Friends meeting will be held this Wednesday, and everyone is warmly invited to come along. Whether it’s your first meeting or you’ve joined us before, we’d love to see you there. It’s a great opportunity to share ideas and contribute to the life of our school community.
Have a lovely week
Manuela
