From the Principal

12 school days until the concert ‘A Night in the Museum’……

Basketball

Congratulations to our Boys and Girls Basketball teams who competed in the District Competition at Parkdale Secondary College. Both teams showed great teamwork, and determination in all their games. The Boys team finished in 3rd place, while the Girls team claimed an exciting Grand Final victory by just one point! Congratulations to Cleo N who was named MVP. We look forward to cheering them on when they compete in the Division Competition in October.

AMC and Spelling Bee

Well done to all the students who took part in the Australian Mathematics Competition and/or the Prime Minister’s Spelling Bee. We had a record number of participants this year, with many students challenging themselves by giving one or both competitions a go.

3-6 Aths

Last Wednesday, our Year 3–6 students took part in the athletics trials. Congratulations to all students for participating with such enthusiasm, giving their best effort in every event, and showing wonderful support for one another throughout the day. We wish the students representing our school at the district competition next week the very best of luck. Thank you to Mr A for organising the trials, and to the teachers and parent volunteers whose support helped make the day such a success.

Aerobics

Good luck to our Aerobics teams, Starburst and Rockin’ Robics, who will represent our school at the Nationals in Queensland on Saturday, 30 August. We’re so proud of their dedication and teamwork, and thank Miss Ulrich, Mrs Mackenzie, and Miss Watson for their time and effort in training the girls.

Congratulations

Hamish F was selected to represent Victoria in the U12 football team at the State competition in Queensland. Hamish and his teammates shone on the field, playing outstanding football and proudly bringing home the State Championship.  Hamish really enjoyed the experience and playing with his teammates.

Grade 6 Camp

On Wednesday our Grade 6 students, teachers and parent volunteers will venture to Creswick for their final primary school camp.  The children will attend Sovereign Hill and participate in a range of outdoor activities. Camp provides the opportunity for children to connect with each other and have a break from technology for a few days. Thank you to the Grade 6 teachers and parents who are attending the camp.

2026 School Year

If you have a child in Foundation to Year 5 who will not be returning to PPS next year, could you please inform the office or the class teacher via email ASAP.  This will assist with planning for class structures and staffing for 2026.

Father’s Day/Special Person – Friday 5th September

The Fathers’ Day Stall and breakfast is Friday 5th September.  All breakfast orders to be made via Qkr! and must be placed by 12pm on Thursday 28th August.

Hats

From Monday 1st September children are required to wear a hat which is in line with our Sun Smart policy.  Please ensure your child has a school hat, navy and wide brimmed and named.  No Hat, No Play.  Sunscreen is available; however, we encourage children to bring a small tube of sunscreen which can be kept in their bag, and they can apply this before they go outside.

Kind regards

Leanne Bradney
