Voices for Nature: Year 5 Showcase
On Tuesday 19 August, the Year 5 classrooms came alive as students shared their learning in a special showcase for the unit How the World Works. With the central idea 'Living things may adapt to survive', students explored adaptations, Earth’s changes, and our human responsibility to care for creation.
Each student chose a native organism at risk, researched its unique features, and created a written report alongside a persuasive pitch to advocate for its protection. Their advocacy was supported by carefully sketched and labelled diagrams, as well as detailed models that demonstrated both creativity and scientific understanding.
Families and visitors were invited to listen to these presentations and engage with the displays, which highlighted both knowledge and passion for Australia’s natural world. The showcase was a celebration of inquiry, creativity, and responsibility—an inspiring reminder of how young learners can be powerful advocates for change.
