The Many Gifts of Our Students

I know I should not be surprised when I speak with students about the amazing things they are achieving, yet every time I do, I am filled with awe and gratitude. At Good News Lutheran College, our young people continually remind us that God has blessed each of them with unique gifts and talents — and when those gifts are nurtured, they shine brightly for all to see.

Recently, I was humbled to learn about one of our Year 11 girls who is excelling in high jump at an elite level, soaring to heights that few ever reach. Three of our senior students have been offered conditional placement in the prestigious Musical Theatre course at Patrick School of the Arts — without even needing to go through the usual audition process. What an extraordinary testament to their dedication and artistry!

And that’s only the beginning. We celebrate our archers, our runners, our cricketers, our swimmers, our soccer academy students, and so many more who pursue their passions both in and beyond the classroom. There are certainly many more stories that I do not yet know about, but each one is a reminder that within our community, God’s Spirit is moving powerfully in diverse and exciting ways.

The Apostle Paul reminds us in 1 Corinthians 12:4–6

“There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.”

As a College, we give thanks for the gifts of our students and the ways they use them to bring joy, inspire others, and honour God. Let us continue to encourage them, pray for them, and celebrate with them as they grow into the fullness of who God has called them to be.

Grace and peace,
