Principal's Message

Dear Families,

August has been a wonderful month of learning, celebration and achievement at our school.

Our Year 5 & 6 high-achieving students proudly represented us in the recent Mathematical Association of Victoria Competition held at Overport Primary School, competing against more than 20 teams from local schools. We are delighted to share that one of our teams came away as winners on the day – a fantastic achievement and a credit to the hard work, teamwork and problem-solving skills of our students.

Our Prep students recently celebrated their 100 Days of School – a joyful milestone that highlighted just how much they have already grown and achieved in their first year of learning. It was wonderful to see their excitement and pride in their journey so far.

We also enjoyed the magic of Book Week, with students and staff embracing the celebrations and reminding us all of the power of reading and imagination. The outfits were filled with thought and commitment and our students enjoyed a Book Week performance as well as a South African drumming and storytelling incursion.

Another highlight this month was our School Disco – a fantastic evening filled with music, dancing and fun. It was wonderful to see our students enjoying themselves and coming together as a school community.

Finally, our Year 5/6 students had a memorable experience at camp, challenging themselves, building resilience and creating special memories with their peers. These opportunities outside of the classroom are such an important part of student growth and connection.

I would also like to inform families that our school has been placed on an Enrolment Management Plan by the Department of Education for a third consecutive year. This means that for 2026 we are limited to one Prep class. Information about Prep transition will be shared with families shortly.

On a personal note, I will be on leave for the remainder of the term for a minor medical procedure. During this time, Melanie French will step into the role of Acting Principal, and I know she will do a wonderful job in leading our school community.

Thank you, as always, for your support and partnership in your child’s education.

Warm regards,

Stephania Johnson-Turner
