Book an ADVENTURE!

Book Week 2025: “Book an Adventure!” Takes Flight at Our Lady Star of the Sea
On Friday, August 22nd, Our Lady Star of the Sea celebrated Book Week in style with a dress-up day themed around this year’s slogan, “Book an Adventure!”
From the moment students arrived, the excitement was in the air. The school entrance had been transformed into a lively airport, complete with check-in counters, x-ray machines, and teachers dressed as tourists and airport staff. Students lined up, passports were stamped by the welcoming crew, and they were waved through security to begin their literary adventure.
The schoolyard and classrooms quickly filled with vibrant and imaginative costumes. From classic storybook characters to adventurous heroes, students showcased their creativity and love of reading. Of course, in true Book Week tradition, “Wally” was spotted wandering the school — but as always, he was tricky to find!
The day’s highlight was the Book Week Parade, where students proudly displayed their costumes in front of peers, staff, and families. Smiles, laughter, and excitement filled the room as everyone celebrated a shared love of books and storytelling.
Principal Cathy Blackford praised the effort and spirit of the students and staff, noting that Book Week is a reminder of the joy and adventures that reading can bring.
This year’s celebration once again showed the strength of the Our Lady Star of the Sea community in bringing learning to life. With passports stamped and imaginations soaring, Book Week 2025 was truly an adventure to remember.
