High Abilities Program

CHES Year 10 Enrichment Electives
Last semester, four of our Year 10 students – Daniel Brenchley, Anita Rose Delantar, Alex Sim and Izaac Stewart – opted to complete enrichment electives at the Centre for Higher Education Studies (CHES) in South Yarra. The aim of the enrichment electives is to extend and challenge high-ability students beyond the school curriculum. CHES hosted a Presentation Day where each student had the opportunity to share their work with their parents, carers and teachers. Students in the Lingo Lab elective (Anita) shared their research into whether different AI platforms can be used to replicate the work of famous authors, such as William Shakespeare. In addition, students in the Research Matters elective (Daniel, Alex and Izaac) were given the freedom to dive deeper into a specific area of interest; for example, Alex’s research question was: “How does the location of an exoplanet in the Universe and its properties influence its potential habitability?” Overall, I was absolutely blown away by our students’ final presentations and the impressive way in which they represented our College. Congratulations again to Daniel, Anita, Alex and Izaac! Applications for the 2026 Semester 1 enrichment electives are now open, and close on September 5th , 2025. If you are a current Year 9 student who is interested in this opportunity next year, please see Mrs Lee. For more information about the CHES enrichment electives, please see the attached flyer or visit the CHES website.
