A Heartfelt Thank You for a Wonderful Book Donation!

Over the past week, we were delighted to receive a generous donation of books from one of our wonderful families. We are always grateful for any donations, as they help us enrich the learning experience for all our students.

These new books will find a special place in our school—some will be added to the library shelves, while others will be used directly in our primary classrooms to inspire curiosity and a love of reading.

Thank you to our caring community for helping us keep the magic of books alive and growing in our school!

Scholastic Book Fair

Scholastic Book Fair Wrap-Up

As we close the chapter on this year’s Schlastic Book Fair, the buzz and excitement around our school have been truly wonderful to witness!

A big thank you to all the families who supported the Book Fair—thanks to your enthusiasm and generosity, we raised nearly $2,000 in commission. This fantastic result enables us to enrich our library with a fresh collection of books, along with special selections for two of our year levels. Our students will have even more stories to dive into and explore!

We’d also like to extend our deepest gratitude to the amazing volunteers who gave their time to set up, run and pack away the event. From students to staff and community members, your commitment made this Book Fair possible and incredibly successful.

Thank you all for your support in fostering a lifelong love of reading in our school community!

Book Fair Donations

We are excited to share photos of the wonderful books we have gathered from the recent Book Fair, which will be donated to our Year 2 and Year 4 classrooms. Stay tuned—photos of the books being added to our school library will be featured in the next issue of the newsletter!

Premiers Reading Challenge

Term 3 Update: Wrapping Up the Premier’s Reading Challenge!

As Term 3 kicks off, we are excited to be heading towards the finish line for the Premier’s Reading Challenge! Just a quick reminder—the final date to enter your books online has been extended to 19th September 2025. (Please note this updated deadline!)

Over the past couple of weeks, I have had the pleasure of working closely with one of our families to help locate books in our library that are part of the Premier’s Reading Challenge list. It’s been wonderful to see so many students and families getting involved!

A huge thank you to everyone who has submitted their completed reading lists—whether digitally or on paper. Your support means the world to us! In the last two days, I have had the joy of validating the achievements of 19 students who have successfully completed the challenge so far—well done to all!

“Reading is a passport to countless adventures.” — Anonymous

For those new to it, the NSW Premier’s Reading Challenge is all about fostering a love of reading for pleasure and discovery. It encourages students to explore a wide variety of quality literature—not as a competition, but as a personal challenge to read more and enjoy more stories. The Challenge is open to all NSW students from Kindergarten to Year 10. You can find out more here: Premier’s Reading Challenge Website.

Keep up the fantastic reading—and don’t forget to keep entering your books online! Each student must read a specific number of books to complete the Challenge. For full details and the booklist, visit: PRC Booklist.

Borrowing and Returns

Students may borrow and return books before school, recess, lunchtime and after school. Primary School students also have the chance to borrow books during their fortnightly Library lessons.

Borrowing Permissions

If students are requesting to borrow books above their age level, we request parents to write a letter regarding their permission for their child to borrow and read a specific book which will be reviewed by library staff.

Renewals

Students are able to re-borrow books for an additional two weeks by speaking to staff at the Library Circulation Desk. If further borrowing is requested after this, students are required to bring their book/s with them to allow the staff to see the book. In addition, students can renew their book/s by emailing the Library.

Requests

If your child would like to borrow a specific book and the title is not included in our current catalogue, we will add this to our purchase wishlist.

Overdue notices

If you receive an overdue notice, there is a chance that the books may have been processed through our system after the email was sent. We encourage all parents to follow up on any issues by emailing the Resource Centre at library@moamagrammar.nsw.edu.au

Reading Permissions

Due to our shared space catering for students from Kindergarten to Year 12, our library collection is organised to help students easily find books with protagonists close to their own age. For example, in the Upper Primary section, most of the characters are between 11 and 13 years old. This approach ensures that themes and content remain age-appropriate, and also supports students in reading independently and with confidence.

When deciding where books are placed within the collection, we are guided by author and publisher recommendations.

If a student wishes to borrow a book above their recommended age level, we kindly ask that parents provide written permission either via a letter or email to library staff, confirming approval for their child to borrow and read that specific title.

If you have any other enquiries, issues or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us via phone by ringing the main office or via email address at library@moamagrammar.nsw.edu.au

Keep reading everyone!
