Student Behaviour and Wellbeing:

Recently our school received the results for the Attitude to School Survey for 2025.

I am pleased to say that in all areas of the Attitudes to School Survey (ATSS) KTHS have shown improvement from 2024 to 2025. A contributing factor to this positive shift has been the strategic and supportive administration of the school by staff through the implementation of the School Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS).

The consistent reinforcement of school values and the rollout of the acknowledgement system have created a more structured and positive school environment.

Importantly, the improved results also reflect a student body that is currently in a positive educational and social space. A significant influence has also been the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEP) and the expectation that staff make and report on modifications to these IEP students work is ongoing requiring lots of support to develop working modifications. These students have goals developed out of SSG meetings that staff also have input into in their respective classes.

Supporting All Learners Through Professional Development:

Over the past term, KTHS staff have been undertaking professional development aimed at providing the best possible outcomes for students with Autism. This training has been delivered by Jarrod Hogan from Amaze, an organisation dedicated to improving the lives of autistic people and their families.

This week’s focus was on Executive Functioning skills — the mental processes that enable us to plan, make decisions, focus attention, and organise information in our minds.

Jarrod provided practical strategies to help students strengthen these skills, supporting them in becoming more independent and confident learners.

While the professional development is designed with neurodivergent students in mind, the strategies we’ve explored are beneficial for all students. By enhancing our understanding and skills in this area, we’re working to ensure every learner at KTHS has the tools they need to succeed both inside and outside the classroom.
