Term 3 Start Date Reminder
📅 Term 3 will commence on Wednesday 23 July, as Monday 21 and Tuesday 22 July are Staff Professional Development Days (student-free days).
We look forward to welcoming students back on Wednesday 23 July!
Introducing Compass
Good News Lutheran College (GNLC) will commence a consolidation of platforms for communication of important information.
In the long term, Compass Education will provide a comprehensive school management system that will be used by staff, students and parents across the GNLC community. More and more features will be added over time to Compass Education, replacing many other platforms currently in use, providing improved efficiency.
From Term 3 GNLC will begin using Compass to manage the following areas:
Student Attendance
Absentees, sickness, out of class activities, lesson attendance
(replacing the SMS and phone message system)
Academic & Student Led Conference
Bookings will be made simply from the one location
(replacing the PTO/Booked system)
Student Academic Reports
(formerly hosted on Schoolbox)
Event Permission/Signatures
Permission slips, document signing, consent forms for trips, camps and excursions (replacing the SignMee system, which is discontinued by the developer)
Getting Started
On Wednesday 16 July, each family would have received an email from Compass Education. This email will include instructions and a link to assist you in setting up your personal GNLC Compass Education account. You can do this from your computer/desktop; however, we also encourage all parents to download the Compass Education app (Apple or Android) in preparation for the rollout.
We encourage this set-up to be completed by Wednesday 23 July, ready for Term 3!

Should you require assistance in setting up your account and gaining access, a new email help desk will be available at compasshelp@goodnews.vic.edu.au. Thank you for partnering with us in making GNLC an even more connected and efficient learning community.
Uniform Update
We wish to inform families that Dobsons now exclusively stocks uniform items featuring the updated College logo. Items with the old logo are no longer available for purchase.
As we continue transitioning to the new design, please note that from the beginning of 2027, only uniforms displaying the new logo and updated styles will be permitted to be worn at the College.
Student Collection Procedure
We would like to remind all families that the latest time for early student pick-up is strictly 1:45 PM. Kindly refer to the attached Student Collection Procedure for notification requirements. To ensure minimal disruption to teaching and learning during the final part of the school day, we kindly ask that all early departures be arranged before 1:45 PM. After this time, school staff will not be able to collect students from class for early pick-up. If there are extenuating circumstances that require your child to be picked up after 1:45 PM, please speak directly with a member of the school leadership team to seek approval. Additionally, we respectfully ask that all interactions with our front office staff remain courteous and respectful at all times. We thank you for your understanding and cooperation in maintaining a positive and safe school environment for all.
