Making and Marketing

In Year 11 Business Studies students put their theoretical understanding of the business processes to the test through the task of 'selling' biscuits. Students had to pair up and create a business name then work together to build and implement a biscuit design complete with marketing approach and pricing. They then marketed these biscuits to other classes who voted for the biscuits and team they would purchase from. Afterwards, students calculated their sales, expenses and determined which business was the most profitable. It was a task that integrated student's understanding of how businesses function and enabled them to deepen and reflect on their knowledge of what it takes to have a successful product in a market. Not only did students enjoy the challenge and create some outstanding biscuits, they were also rewarded with the consumption of their own efforts.

Let's Get Folding-Origami

In Year 8 HSIE, students have been studying Japan under the Shoguns. They were given the opportunity to immerse themselves in the traditional Japanese art of paper folding - origami. A variety of items were made including paper aeroplanes, flowers, hearts, crabs, stars, and butterflies. Students appreciated the activity and showed perserverance and resilience throughout as they tackled various designs.
