NAIDOC Day

Last Wednesday July 23, we held our annual NAIDOC celebration with this year's theme being ‘The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy’.
Our NAIDOC day commenced with an acknowledgment to country in Gamilaraay language and sign language, followed by a liturgy run by our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and accompanied by a contemporary indigenous dance performed by students from McCarthy Catholic College.
The children then participated in cultural activities, including bead making, community hands, clap sticks and message stick making and each student getting the chance to add their special touch to an artwork.
We are proud of how our students embraced this day. It was a meaningful celebration of culture, learning, and connection.
We would like to thank staff and students from McCarthy Catholic College, Jodie Herden for her artistic experience, Manilla Community Preschool, Manilla Early Learning as well as the families and friends who joined us in our celebrations.
To all the staff and community of St Michael's Primary Manilla whose efforts made this day possible.
