🌱 Help Us Grow! Seed Starting at OGPS 🌱

We’re thrilled to be launching a new seed-growing initiative at Ocean Grove Primary School as part of our sustainability program! Students will soon be getting their hands dirty as they learn to grow plants from seed, care for young plants.

To get this exciting project off the ground, we’re asking our amazing school community for donations of the following:

  • 🌿 1 bag of premium seed raising mix
  • 🥕 2 bags of premium vegetable potting mix
  • 🌱 Mini greenhouses that are no longer being used
  • 🏡 And if anyone has a small greenhouse they no longer need—wishful thinking, we know!—we’d absolutely love to give it a new life at OGPS!

We’re also looking to boost our compost system and are in need of 'brown' materials such as straw, wood chips, or dry leaves. These help balance our compost and keep it thriving.

Donations can be dropped off near the school garden area or at the front office.

🌱 Nude Food Tuesday & 🚶‍♀️ Active Wednesday

 A Friendly Reminder!

At Ocean Grove Primary School, we love finding fun ways to stay healthy and care for our environment. Here’s a quick reminder about two of our weekly initiatives that help us do just that!

🥪 Nude Food Tuesday Each Tuesday, we encourage all students to bring a nude food lunch—that means lunchboxes packed with no single-use plastics or wrappers. The goal is to reduce waste and make more sustainable food choices. Think containers, beeswax wraps, and reusable snack bags!

👟 Active Wednesday

Every Wednesday, we ask students to get moving and actively travel to school if they can—walk, ride, scoot, or even park a little further away and walk the rest. It’s a great way to build healthy habits and ease traffic around the school!

Community Compost is Coming!

We’re excited to announce the launch of our Community Compost initiative next term! Families are invited to bring their kitchen scraps to school and contribute to our growing compost system. Parent volunteers will be available every Friday morning at 8:30am to meet families and help empty compost buckets into our school compost bins. Thank you to our amazing parent team for helping make this possible!

Recycling Station Reminder!

Don’t forget to make use of our Recycling Station located in the Year 1 area! We collect a variety of hard-to-recycle items including bread tags, used toothbrushes and toothpaste tubes and batteries.
