Principal Message

Dear Families,
100 days of Prep: Congratulations to our Preps who are celebrating their 100th day of school. So much growth in their learning and development as people has occurred and I am sure the families will celebrate these aspects with the Preps and remind them how proud we all are of their efforts. The students looked great today in all their dress ups and had a terrific time at the little assembly this afternoon.
Movie Night: Bring your blankets, bean bags, Uggies and anything else to stay warm and comfortable on Friday night for the Movie Night in our Gym. Thanks to those who have purchased tickets already. Popcorn, drinks, and food vans will be available and the wonderful team from Lions will be here to fire up the BBQ too. More info in the newsletter.
Year 6 Camp: Next week the Year 6’s head up to Howqua for their last primary school camp. 3 nights away with their mates, in a great location, jam packed with activities and a day on Mt Buller. We want everyone to have a great time, be challenged and most important, be safe, kind and respectful. No doubt there will be some tired kids on Thursday when they return. We appreciate the support from volunteer families who are helping us out at camp too.
Volunteers: We know how important volunteers are within the community at sport, clubs and various associations and we are so fortunate to have so many volunteers for the range of activities across our school. Thanks to all our wonderful volunteers that contribute to enhancing the school.
Lunch orders: Please note some important changes to lunch orders.
There will be no Groove Lunch Orders on Friday, 19th September due to the Disco, Footy Colours and Hotdog Day. Also, starting the week of Monday 12th August, Groove Café will no longer be able to accommodate late lunch orders. All lunch orders must now be submitted by Wednesday for delivery on Friday.
Enrolment updates: The Department of Education (the department) is supporting schools under enrolment pressure to ensure every child is able to attend their local school. As part of this yearly review, schools under or at risk of enrolment pressure are being supported with enrolment guidance and information. We received a letter recently as Ocean Grove Primary School has been identified as under enrolment pressure. We are allowed to enrol up to 625 students. We are currently at 622 students, so enrolment management is crucial. We will be updating the school website with further information soon.
Prep 2026: Later this week, we hope to be confirming our ‘in-zone’ prep enrolments for next year. Please keep an eye out for communication and please ensure acceptance via the Google Form that will be provided. Once we have these confirmed, we will review the capacity of classes to finalise enrolment offers as per directions from the department. Please pass this on to friends, family and neighbours of potential 2026 Preps!
Assembly: Last Friday we had a massive assembly with so many awards being distributed that we had to run over time! There were awards for artwork (students whose illustrations were voted to be published in this year's Drawing Us Together NAIDOC week story book illustration competition held at Leopold Plaza), Sporting achievements, High Ability subjects and Year 6 badges for various aspects within their final year of school. Over the weekend I reflected on the breadth of opportunities that are provided to students and how talented OGPS kids are! Well done families!
Enjoy the rest of the week.
