From the Principal

Welcome to Term 3!
We’ve had a fantastic start to Term 3, and it’s been wonderful to see the children returning to school with such enthusiasm and joy.
Sadly, during the school holidays, a serious Wildlife Crime occurred in the shopping centre car park opposite the school. It involved the suspected poisoning of hundreds of birds, mainly corellas and pigeons. The Conservation Regulator is currently investigating and is appealing to the public for information. If you have any details that may assist, please contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. Reports can be made anonymously.
Please do not feed the birds: Feeding birds contributes to the spread of disease and can result in significant harm to local wildlife. Signage around the area clearly indicates that penalties apply. If you see anyone feeding birds, please report it by calling 136 186 to inform the Conservation Regulator at the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action.
Some exciting news: Our Mandarin program has now commenced in the new MOD5 building. Mrs Qi and the students are very excited to be in their vibrant and colourful new space, which has been beautifully set up with new furniture and resources, with more displays planned ahead to create an engaging learning environment.
Unfortunately, the new Art Room has experienced a minor setback due to delays with cabinets and furniture. While we wait, Mrs McIntosh and Ms Addison are creatively running art lessons in the students’ regular learning spaces. We’ll provide updates as the situation progresses and hope to share some exciting news in our next newsletter. The STEM program has officially started in the Environmental Education building (in the previous Art Room). Mrs Meade has done a wonderful job transforming the space into a dynamic STEM learning environment.
REMINDER: Parent Teacher Interviews & Student-Led Conferences are next week.
Wednesday 30th July: Foundation - Year 2 Parent/Teacher Interviews
Thursday 31st July: Year 3 - 6 Student Led Conferences
Please ensure you arrive on time, as schedules are tightly managed. Interpreters have been booked for families who requested them, so it’s important that we all keep to the allocated times. These meetings are a valuable opportunity to celebrate your child’s Semester 1 progress and to support them in their learning goals for Semester 2. If you have any concerns about your appointment time, please contact the office as soon as possible.
Year 3 and Year 5 – NAPLAN Report Cards
The 2025 NAPLAN Report Cards for Year 3 and Year 5 students have arrived and will be sent via post to your home address. Please ensure the school has your current address. If you need to update your contact details, please phone the office on 9547 1224 or email athol.road.ps@education.vic.gov.au
A friendly reminder that students should not arrive at school early unless they are booked into Breakfast Club. Students should arrive between 8:40am and 8:55am, ensuring they are ready to begin learning at 9:00am.
