State AFL Finals
On Wednesday, 25ᵗʰ June, the Senior Girls and Boys Teams headed to Lavington Sports Ground for the state AFL finals.
It was a bitterly cold and wet day. The girls played Xavier in the first game. Their never-give-in attitude and continual attack on the ball saw them come away with a one-point win, 14 to 13, with goals to Majella and Amelia.
The second game was against Daramalun from Canberra. Abbie consistently tapped it to Abbey J, Majella, Macey or Holly, who delivered it so well to the forward line that the backline did not see much action. The girls won convincingly, 36-6, with goals to Majella(3), Freya and Molly
Then they played St Catherine's, Sydney. This was a very hard-fought game. The defence, particularly Maggie, Annabelle, Freya and Ava, fought hard, but the girls lost to a well-drilled team, 28 to 7, with a goal to Majella.
Congratulations to the girls for coming runners-up. Many thanks to all the parents who made the trek to Lavington to support their daughters and to Tennielle for her assistance in coaching.
