Tertiary Education Support for Year 12 Students
I want to ensure all our students are well-prepared for their next steps after high school. To support them in making informed decisions about their future, I have been providing a number of resources on tertiary education options.
Throughout last term, I hosted several mini-seminars covering key topics like explanation of Selection Rank, university applications, early entry, and how offers are made etc These sessions were designed to be concise and highly beneficial, providing students with direct access to important information. Unfortunately, attendance at these seminars has been low.
I have also uploaded a significant amount of helpful material to our Google Classroom. These materials are available 24/7 for students to access at their convenience.
I would be grateful if you could have a gentle conversation with your son or daughter and remind them that these resources are provided for their benefit. Encouraging them to take advantage of the information available, either by attending upcoming seminars or reviewing the documents in Google Classroom, would be a great help.
My goal is to empower every student to confidently navigate their post-school options. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
Try a Trade & Employment Expo
The Try a Trade & Employment Expo is a platform for local businesses to showcase their expertise, engage with students, and inspire the next generation of skilled employees.
The Expo is targeted at students from Year 9 to Year 12 and it will be the biggest expo in the region promoting apprenticeships, traineeships and entry level employment opportunities.
This was advertised last week, and at this point I only have 15 people who have indicated they want to go. I initially said that the EOI needed to be filled in by today, but I will keep it open until Monday.
If interested, please fill in this form ASAP
The Careers, Transitions & Pathways Classrooms are my main vehicle to communicate information to students.
Here are the codes to the Careers/TaP Classrooms for all new students and those who have, for some reason not already joined. Please join NOW.
Your Classroom is where I will share any upcoming events or courses that you may be interested in. Often, these events have limited spaces available and require an EOI, so it is important that you make sure you are reading notifications.
This will be the main platform used for our Careers notices and activities.
Work Experience
A reminder that all Work Experience information is available in the Year 10 Google Classroom. It is also imperative that I have all paperwork back 2 weeks before the placement is to commence.
