Year 10 Design & Technology
Crafting Comfort and Creativity
Design and Technology students have been working hard last term, bringing some impressive furniture pieces to life. They've been busy designing and constructing ottomans, stools, and deck chairs, all intended as versatile occasional furniture.
Students began with a design brief, which guided them through the process of creating their chosen piece. A key part of this project involved using CAD (Computer-Aided Design) to create their own unique fabric patterns. These digital designs were then brought to life through digital printing, with the custom fabric used to upholster the cushioned tops of the ottomans and stools or as a headrest cushion for the deck chair.
As the term wrapped up, students were focusing on completing their projects. It's been great to see their dedication and the practical skills they've developed throughout this process.
A display has been set up in the top office area to view the Year 10’s creative and inspiring works.
We look forward to our next project, designing iPod speakers that address the natural amplification of sound. The students have made a good start to the unit, with initial research and design ideas starting to flow.
Congratulations and well done to all our Year 10 Design and Technology students for their efforts and the quality of their work.
