Principal Message

To the Kildare Catholic College community,
We have had a great start to Term 3, and I am absolutely delighted to have the privilege of being appointed Principal of this wonderful community. Students have started the term in good spirits and are engaging well in their learning.
Staff started this term focused on our Vision to ‘work to bring all to the fullness of life’. Unpacking this a little:
We want all students to be cared for in a learning environment where there is a belief that everyone can learn and the dignity of the human person is paramount.
We want all students to be transformed through our values of faith, learning, care, and justice and through the provision of an outstanding education differentiated to meet individual needs, talents, and interests
We want all students and staff to find meaningful lives with purpose and be empowered to contribute to the common good, both now and in the future.
We were fortunate to be joined by an outstanding educator and researcher, Mr Brendan Murray, on our first day’s professional learning. The focus of this day was on the High Impact Engagement Strategies (HIES), a framework for engaging students to promote growth in learning and socioemotional development. This work supports our teacher practice and Positive Behaviour for Learning framework.
We are also going to focus our energies on what makes a difference:
an evidence-based instructional framework
A knowledge-rich curriculum
A multi-tiered approach to learning, positive behaviour for learning, and wellbeing
We are looking forward to a great term ahead, continuing the great work we have started:
planning and implementing new knowledge-rich curriculum,
continuing our work on the development of a consistent instructional approach through PLCs
and the continued implementation of the Positive Behaviour for Learning multitiered framework with a focus this term on goal setting and monitoring cards at the KLA level.
I am honoured to work with such a talented and dedicated staff, together with parents, to support our young people to be the best version of themselves. I am looking forward to leading this community in a life-giving way.
