PL have been lucky to get a sneak peek and work in the beautiful new library. We have been enjoying reading books in there and even building models to get Cinderella to the ball for our design and technology inquiry unit. Students in PL made awesome carriages with axels and wheels so the carriages could move when pushed. Some students blew Mrs. Lund away by building a Lego horse and carriage with a battery powered motor to spin the wheels. The students created their own code to instruct the carriages how to move. They even added sounds and lights to the code, and it was amazing to see the carriages moving around the library to get Cinderella to the ball. Can you believe we even ate our maths this week! That’s right we made fairy bread and cut it into fractions. Yummo!

We had an exciting morning learning about triangles that strengthen and stabilise structures such as buildings and bridges. Triangles withstand more force than parallelograms ( that is like squares or rectangles). We were set a challenge to build something that could hold the weight of a small whiteboard. Afterwards we drew our creations and wrote a recount of our efforts. It was heaps of fun to design using triangles. We can’t wait to build our Little Pig house to withstand the big bad wolf next week!
