NEWS & ADMINISTRATION

Mrs Caroline Galea

Dear Parents,

Last week at assembly, I spoke to the children about online safety. This is a discussion that I urge you all to have with your children.  We all think that our children will come to us if faced with uncertainty, however research has shown that this is not always the case and we need to keep talking about it.  Recently, I was made aware of some children befriending an adult online that had once been associated with Holy Name. Please make sure that you are aware of who your child is speaking to when they are online.

In this newsletter there are many things to be thankful for.

Thank you to the Choir and Ms Rosa Zannoni for their Kmart Wishing Tree performance. I was unable to attend, but from all accounts the children sounded great and spread a little Christmas cheer.  Well done Choir.

A big thank you to the wonderful parents that gave up their time to assist with Hot Dog and Chicken Nugget day. The children enjoyed their lunch.  I am sure that none of these parents want to see a hot dog or chicken nugget for a while.

Thank you also to the families that have come in and finalised their accounts for 2023.

We appreciate you doing this.  Fees for 2023 are due to be finalised tomorrow (unless you have an ongoing direct debit).

Just a reminder that in the corridor next to the school office we have our Christmas tree, with tags for the Koala Kids appeal. Thank you to the families that have already taken a tag. Just a reminder that you are encouraged to buy a small gift, such as  colouring books etc... that will keep children occupied while in hospital (please see the information below).

2024 Fees

Please refer to the 2024 Fee & Levy structure below.

If you have any queries or concerns about payment, please make an appointment to come and see me.  We have endeavoured to keep increases to a minimum.

If you are in receipt of an eligible Health Care or Pension Card as at the first day of Term 1, 2024 please see Leanne at the office to obtain a Concessional Fee application form.

Please note that the Concessional form needs to be completed on an annual basis, and can be collected from the school office as of today.

If you require a hard copy of the fee structure, please contact the office.

2024 Planning Day

A reminder that next Wednesday 29 November is a pupil free day.  The whole staff will be involved in planning for 2024.

2024 Student Stationery Lists

Here are the stationery requirements for your child in 2024. Please make sure they have all the items on the list (you can recycle any left overs from this year).

The 2024 Preps have already received their list.

If you prefer a hard copy, send your child to the office.

Parent Helper Thank You Morning Tea

On Tuesday, December 5th we invite all the members of our community that have helped our school in any way to join us for morning tea. For catering purposes, please call or email (office@hnpe.catholic.edu.au) the school office to RSVP by Friday 1st December.

Art News

In Term 4, the 5/6s have explored the work of 'Mulga the Artist' (Joel Moore). He is  Sydney-based, known for creating larger than life animal characters with interesting stories. The students have used his work as inspiration to create their own unique character and explore the artform of printmaking. To showcase their work, they have made a virtual art gallery of their Mulga-inspired prints (and stories!). Please take a look at their amazing work! Here is the website to their gallery:

Christmas Carols    Tuesday 12th December @5.30pm.

Christmas Carols planning is well underway, so please keep Tuesday 12th December free. On this night we will be selling sausages (we will have more than last year!) and drinks (soft drink and water).

The P&F are also asking for donations for the end of the year raffle.  They are grateful for anything that they receive. Some of the things that we have had in the past are food items, wine, beauty products, vouchers, games, children's entertainment items. If you work for a business or have your own business and would like to donate something toward the end of year raffle, it can be left at the office by Tuesday 5th of December.

SOCIAL JUSTICE CHRISTMAS GIVING TREE

This year, we will be working with 'Koala Kids' to support children with cancer by donating Christmas gifts to help put smiles on the faces of children during their fight with cancer. We want our students to understand that giving is just as good as receiving.

In the reception area, you will see a Christmas tree. The tree will be decorated with tags of different age groups eg: 'girl 1-2 years' or 'boy 5-6 years'. For families who wish to participate, select a tag and purchase a present appropriate for that age and place it under the tree ready to be delivered. Gifts do not need to be extravagant and no more than $25 - $30. Please see flyer below of recommended gift ideas.

Car Show

In 2024, Holy Name will be holding a Car Show on March 17th. This event will help us raise funds to make Holy Name an even better place for your child. You can support our school in several ways.

  1. If you have a car that you would like to show,  a registration form will be coming out.
  2. Work in an automotive related industry? Why not hold a stall to advertise your business. Please come and speak to a car show member
  3. Clear your calendar and attend our car show.
