Middle Unit -2/3

It’s been an exciting two weeks in the middle unit. We are so proud of the way that the 2/3s conducted themselves during our Australiana concert. It was lovely to see a range of outfits on the night and the songs sounded beautiful. A big thanks to Mr Bromley for putting on a great show!

In literacy, students have been learning about persuasive techniques. We have explored how to make advertisements for our narrative stories, using Canva. The students have thoroughly enjoyed this activity and have created some really powerful posters.

During our numeracy lessons, students have been exploring 3D shapes and their properties. We have explored a hands-on approach, creating our own 3D shapes  out of nets and then creating our own 3D shape robots.    Pictures below are of the students playing 3D shape bingo.

A highlight of the last fortnight was conducting the ‘egg drop’. Students created a design brief of how to protect an egg if it were to be dropped from a height. Students were tasked with deciding what materials to use, and how they would construct their egg’s safety device. The students then put their device to the test! Whilst some eggs faired better than others, it was impressive to see the critical thinking that went into the student designs.
