EMC and Woodlands Celebration
On behalf of the EMC community we would like to welcome the graduating Grade 6 students that are coming over to us in 2024.
Over the last two years you have meet our Transition Coordinator, Kylie Tempest, a number of times, you have been welcomed to a range of opportunities both onsite at Woodlands and at EMC to be part of our curriculum programs and more recently attended our ‘Meet the Principal’ night and our Transition day this week.
All reports from staff suggest that you had a fantastic day exploring the college and meeting new friends and teachers.
Our Year 7 homegroup teachers and your subject teachers are looking forward to working with you and continuing with the wonderful learning opportunities that you are currently provided at Primary School.
This week our Yr 12 students received their ATARs. An ATAR is the ‘Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank’, it is a score achieved by Yr12 students who have completed their VCE and exams for each subject they study. The ATAR is used by universities to offer further education places to students.
EMC had amazing results this year, we have achieved a median ATAR of 69.75 with 18% of students achieving over 80. Our college Dux this year achieved a score of 98.75 out of a possible 99.95 – some of our best ever results. We would like to take the opportunity to celebrate some past Woodlands students and their amazing achievements with you:
- Jai Thoday – received an ATAR of 95.15 – this puts Jai in the top 10% of students in the state.
- Amelia Dimech was a college vice captain, she was front and centre on many different events, in particular leading our final Yr12 send off assembly for the whole college. Amelia achieved an ATAR of 89.75.
- Lucas Fergusson achieved an ATAR of 85.35, his 2023 subjects were English, Maths Methods, Chemistry, Physics and General Maths
- Britney Dejong achieved an ATAR of 82.05 and is planning to study Occupational Therapy at University
On top of these results we also have had a number of our Vocational Major students head directly into an apprenticeship or traineeship. Their employers feed back to the college their excellent work ethics, ability to communicate and commitment to success.
EMC prides itself on ensuring ‘Pathways to Success’ for our students, we look forward to working with you and helping you achieve your pathway.
Regards
Jodie Ashby
