Music News at HCC
This term it has been my absolute pleasure to begin working with the wonderful music staff and students of Christway College Kingston, within both the curricular and instrumental programs.
Curricular Music
Our Year 7s have been developing their rhythmic and sight reading skills in preparation for commencing their instrumental lessons in the class band this week. The Year 8s have already started work on their classic cinematic repertoire for the Autumn Soiree, and the Senior band has enjoyed their first rehearsal under the capable leadership of Mr John Oppy.
Secondary School Production
Students can look forward to a long-anticipated announcement in the coming week regarding this year’s Secondary school musical! While more information will be released in due course, all Secondary students are warmly invited to participate, with a wide variety of roles available from singing, dancing, and acting to set construction and backstage crew, there is a place for any student who would like to be involved.
Instrumental Lessons
Within the instrumental music program at Christway, our students have the opportunity to learn classical piano, contemporary piano, trumpet, trombone, saxophone, flute, guitar, drums (percussion) and voice (contemporary, musical theatre, classical and/or Jazz). Throughout the year there will be a variety of performance opportunities for our instrumental students, including our music soirees, assemblies, and eisteddfods. Enrollments are still open for most of our instrumental teachers. For those interested in beginning instrumental lessons please contact music.admin@hcc.vic.edu.au. Attached below instrumental information booklet and enrolment form.
It has been a joy to see the strength of the current music program in action over the past four weeks. We have a very exciting year of music ahead, and I am looking forward to being a part of the continued growth and development of the music program here at CCK.
