Principal's Report
ART FOR ALL Weekend
What a fabulous three-day event that we have just experienced. There is so much to celebrate and be proud of as we held our 26th ART FOR ALL last weekend. The priority for school community events is to bring people together and give them the time to enjoy themselves alongside friends, family and neighbours. Summarising the three day event within my newsletter section is a difficult task, and acknowledging the people that made it happen even more so.
In short, I am very thankful for the efforts that our community went to, to ensure that last weekend was simply fabulous.
Opening Night
The event was opened on Friday afternoon by Wurundjeri Elder, Alex Kerr who led a Welcome to Country ceremony.
Before the gallery and shop opened on Friday evening, our Concert Band performed a number of pieces, setting the scene perfectly for the days ahead. At 6pm our gym building was bustling, as visitors from near far took the opportunity to admire the artwork, to browse the shop and treat themselves (or others) to something special.
Gala Night
Saturday was Gala Night; a time to book the babysitter, glam up, and enjoy great food, drink and company. A special mention to our Year 6 students who looked after our visitors by serving the delightful canapés, which had been prepared the evening before – also by our Year 6 students, with the support of volunteers.
Family Day
Sunday could not have gone any better. We had great weather, and around every corner and through every door, there was something awaiting for the crowd. From ArtZone to the Silent Disco, clay to tie dye, delicious food to the Hip Hop Crew, you couldn’t help but be wowed by the offerings and be struck by the amount of planning that it all must have taken.
Thank You
It is difficult to single out individuals when there have been so many people that have donated countless hours in the lead up to the big event. We are so fortunate to have people who donate their skills and time for the enjoyment of others.
So I say thank you to the people involved in:
- The Gallery and Shop
- Catering and food organisation
- ArtZone
- Marketing and communications
- Finances, budgets and ticket sales
- Sustainability
- Event logistics
- Volunteering on the days
I am going to be bold and single out some individuals: Corrin McNamara, Rachael Hough and Lee Hodson – thank you for steering the ship, for giving advice, and for your visibility and calm. The event would not have taken place without your leadership.
Marjie Tkatchenko – thank you for being the person that connects everything that is happening inside the school to the efforts of the community. A special mention to you for the stunning student artwork that is displayed throughout the school.
And of course, thank you to those that attended. It was a pleasure to be a part of the buzz and excitement of the event.
Assistant Principal Appointment
Nicole Rettke has been appointed as our substantive Assistant Principal, starting term one 2024.
Nicole has been Acting Assistant Principal this year, combining this role with teaching class 2D two days a week. We look forward to Nicole fulfilling the Assistant Principal role on a full-time basis next year.
2024 Classes
We are in the final stages of preparing 2024 class lists and organising teacher placements. We will be able to share our 2024 staffing in the next newsletter, ahead of the Meet Your Teacher session on Friday 15 December.
Principal’s Morning Tea – Friday 24 November
Every term I invite parents to join me for a cuppa and a chat as I provide an update on what is happening around the school.
This term’s Morning Tea takes place next Friday (24th November) at 9am in the staffroom. All are welcome!
Enjoy the rest of your week.
