Fun School Holiday Ideas for You and your Family

Everyone looks forward to the Summer holidays, relaxing and spending time with family and friends.

However, they do go for quite a while and sometimes we run out of ideas of things to do!

We have compiled a list of some fun ideas to do at home to support the wellbeing of you and your family this Summer holidays:

Family Movie Marathon:

  • Choose a theme or let each family member pick a favorite movie. Create a cozy movie-watching area with blankets and snacks.

DIY Spa Day:

  • Set up a spa day at home with DIY facemasks, manicures, and relaxation. Include calming scents, soft music, and encourage everyone to unwind.

Backyard Camping:

  • Set up a tent in the backyard for a camping experience. Tell stories, stargaze, and enjoy the simplicity of nature close to home.

Cooking Challenge:

  • Have a family cooking competition. Each member can choose a dish to prepare, and then enjoy a delicious meal together.

Creative Arts and Crafts:

  • Organise an arts and crafts day with various materials. You can paint, draw, make collages, or try other creative projects.

Board Game Tournament:

  • Have a family board game tournament. Rotate through different games, and let each family member choose their favourite.

Virtual Cultural Tour:

  • "Travel" to different countries or cities virtually. Explore museums, watch travel documentaries, and try cooking a meal from a different culture.

DIY Science Experiments:

  • Conduct simple science experiments at home. There are plenty of easy and safe experiments that can be done with household items.

Outdoor Adventure Hunt:

  • Create a scavenger hunt in your backyard or neighborhood. This can be a great way to get some fresh air and exercise.

Online Fitness Classes:

  • Participate in online fitness classes together. Many platforms offer family-friendly workouts that cater to different fitness levels.

Storytelling Night:

  • Have a storytelling night where each family member takes turns creating and telling a story. This can be a fun and imaginative activity.

Virtual Game Night with Friends:

  • Plan a virtual game night with friends through video conferencing. Play online games, quiz each other, or simply catch up.

Photography Expedition:

  • Give each family member a camera or smartphone and organise a photography expedition. Capture interesting moments or subjects around the house or in the neighborhood.

DIY Treasure Hunt:

  • Create a treasure hunt with clues and hidden treasures around the house or yard. This can be an exciting and engaging activity for kids.

Gardening Project:

  • Start a small garden together. Planting flowers, herbs, or vegetables can be a rewarding and educational experience.

Remember to tailor these activities based on the interests and preferences of your family members. The goal is to have fun, relax, and create positive memories during the school holidays.

We have both enjoyed working with our Sacred Heart families this year and we wish a very merry Christmas!
