Little Learners

What a wonderful way to finish the term! Over the past two weeks, our little learners have continued to enjoy their morning literacy and numeracy activities, building their confidence with early reading, writing, counting and number skills through a range of hands-on learning experiences.

The real excitement, however, has been outdoors in our vegetable garden! The children have spent a lot of time digging, moving soil, building giant soil castles, searching for worms and bugs, and using their imaginations to create their own adventures. One group even opened a "mud pie bakery," while others worked together to build a pond for lizards although we didn't manage to find any residents!

These outdoor experiences are so much more than just play. Digging, scooping and carrying soil helps to develop gross motor strength and coordination, while manipulating smaller objects like worms, sticks and leaves strengthens fine motor skills. Working together encourages communication, teamwork and problem-solving, and imaginative play allows children to develop creativity, language and social skills. Best of all, the children are learning to explore, investigate and appreciate the natural world around them.

It has been such a joy to watch their confidence, curiosity and friendships continue to grow throughout the term. We wish all of our Little Learner families a safe, happy and relaxing holiday break!
