Greater Western Athletics

A number of students from Sacred Heart have qualified for the Greater Western Regional Athletics. This will take place this Friday October 10th October at Llanberris Reserve, York Street, Ballarat. Students will travel by bus to this event. The bus will leave from St Mary’s Church carpark at 7:30am and return to the St Mary’s carpark at 4:00pm. The cost of the bus is $10 per student. Please pay this at the office before the event. Students will need to wear their sports uniform, bring along their hat, drink bottle, snacks, fruit and lunch. A canteen is available on the day and Greater Western Athletics Regional merchandise is available to purchase.

We do need some parents to assist on the day, so please indicate on PAM if you can help out.

Australian Country Junior Basketball Cup 

Congratulations to Regan who will be representing Victoria in the 2026 Australian Country Junior Basketball Cup (ACJBC) which will be held in Albury, NSW in January 2026. This national tournament features Under-14 and Under-18 age groups from various Australian states and New Zealand. We wish Regan all the best.

 

 

Victorian Netball

Congratulations to Asha, who has been named Vice-Captain for the Victorian State Netball 12 Year’s and Under team. What a fantastic achievement. It shows that the coaches can see Asha’s great leadership skills. We wish Asha all the best when she competes in the National Netball competition in Ballarat from Saturday 25th- 31st October.  Go Asha.

 

 

Michael Ymer 

This Thursday 9th October, we are lucky enough to have maths leader Michael Ymer visiting our school. Michael will be working with the teachers on this day. Therefore, the day will look a little different for our students. All students will be working in multi-age classes at different times throughout the day. One of the activities the students will be involved in is sport, so we ask that all student please wear their sports uniform and bring along their water bottle.

 

Year 5/6 Swimming Program

Our students in Year 5 and 6 will attend swimming lessons at Bluewater from Monday 8th , Wednesday 10th, Thursday 11th, Friday 12th, Monday 15th December. Lessons will take place between 11:30am – 2:30pm. Swimming is part of the school curriculum, so it is important that all the students support this program. More information will be sent out via PAM closer to the event.

1. What sports do you play? The sport I play is dance.

2. Which sport is your favourite to play? My favourite sports to play are basketball and dance.

3. Why is this your favourite sport? Basketball and dance are my favourite sports to play because I get to play with my friends. 

4. What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest sporting moment was when I managed to achieve a very hard dance move on dance night.

5. What are your strengths that help you with sport? My strengths in sport is my good sportsmanship. 

6. Why do you love playing sports? I love playing sport because I get to play with my friends.

7. Who is your favourite sports person? My favourite sports people are my dance teachers Lori and Jorja.

8. Why are they your favourite? They are my favourite instructors because they make dance so much fun.

9. What is your favourite sporting team? My favourite sports team is the Vixens netball team and the Sydney Swans football team.

10. How would your coaches and teammates describe you? My coach and team mates would say that I am a good sport and a very supportive team mate.

5. What are your strengths that help you with sport? My strengths in sport is my speed, I am quick on the basketball court.

6. Why do you love playing sports? I love playing sport because it’s a good hobby to have and it keeps you fit and healthy.

7. Who is your favourite sports person? My favourite sports person is Phoenix Suns basketballer Devin Booker.

8. Why are they your favourite? Devin Booker is my favourite player because he is a very good guard.

9. What is your favourite sporting team? My favourite sports team is Richmond.

10. How would your coaches and teammates describe you? My coach and team mates would say that I play a good game of basketball and that I am fast.

3. Why is this your favourite sport? Basketball is my favourite sport because I love shooting goals.

4. What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest sporting moment was when I scored twelve points in a game of basketball.

5. What are your strengths that help you with sport? My strengths in sport is my skill at shooting goals.

6. Why do you love playing sports? I love playing sport because I like to run and sport is fun to do with your friends.

7. Who is your favourite sports person? My favourite sports person is Devon Smith, who played for Essendon.

8. Why are they your favourite? Smith was my favourite player because he is my uncle.

9. What is your favourite sporting team? My favourite sports team is Essendon.
