Principal's Report

Dear Parents,

We have had another lovely week at St Leonard’s, there has been plenty happening around the school.

Last week we had 18 students compete in the district athletics representing St Leonard’s. It was a big effort after the concert to focus their attention on the track and field events. We were by far the smallest team on the day but that didn’t stop the mighty efforts of our students. All 18 students represented our school with great pride and it was a privilege to watch you compete with wonderful sportsmanship. More details later in the Newsletter!

We have also celebrated our Learning Support Staff this week with a lovely morning tea. In every school, there are dedicated individuals who work tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure every student has the opportunity to succeed, and their contributions are nothing short of remarkable.

Often, their work goes unnoticed, but their impact is deeply felt by students who need that extra helping hand. They are the patient guides in a busy classroom, the reassuring presence during a difficult task, and the compassionate mentors who celebrate every small victory. From one-on-one sessions to small group work, they tailor their support to meet the unique needs of each student, helping to build confidence and develop essential skills.

The learning support staff at St Leonard’s collaborate with teachers and most importantly, they connect with students, building the trust and rapport that makes true learning possible.

The success stories we see every day, a student finally grasping a tricky concept, a child overcoming a reading challenge, or a quiet learner finding their voice, are a testament to their unwavering commitment.

Let's take a moment to recognise and thank our incredible learning support staff for the amazing work they do. St Leonard’s is a better, more supportive place because of them.

St. Leonard's Hit The Track

Last Thursday the 28th August, 18 of our very enthusiastic Year 5/6 students hit the track to represent our school at District Athletics at Knox Athletics Track. After a big night at the concert, they still arrived bright-eyed, eager and ready to make the most of the day.

Our team was small but they were mighty, with ribbons flying proudly left, right and centre.

Our students demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship, teamwork and resilience throughout the day. It was a fantastic opportunity for them to put their Athletics skills into action. Even with the on and off rain, they kept pushing through and everyone did an amazing job

Any students who placed 1st or 2nd in their event will have the chance to represent our school at the Division round in October. We would like to congratulate the following students who have secured themselves a spot in the next round: Jessie, Calinda, Natalie, Dallas, Milana, Anthony P, Ollie P, Alex, Michaela D, Aaliyah and Lilian.

Father's Day Stall

A huge shout-out to the PFA for running today’s Father’s Day Stall! Our students had a fantastic time browsing and choosing the perfect gifts for the important male role models in their lives.

We truly appreciate the time and energy that goes into organising these events - not only do they create special memories for our students, but they also help raise valuable funds for our school. Thank you, Melanie, Erica, Zereena, Janina, Verina, and Evelyn - your efforts make a real difference!

Kind regards,

Alyce Lowther
