Junior School News

Junior school has had another fantastic term – including our year 7 camp. We have received some great feedback from our Year 7 camp. Students particularly enjoyed opportunities to spend time with friends and get to know other students. Students participated in a series of challenges and activities which foster collaboration and build relationships. The low ropes course, capture the flag, painting rocks, treasure hunt and planting seeds were student favourites. Student leaders supported a Form Group Challenge as part of Wednesday’s events, where all year 7 students were onsite. The camp included presentations from the Black Dog Institute, Forest Fire Management Victoria and Edendale Farm.

Thank you to all families who were able to attend this term’s Student Progress Interviews. This was a great opportunity for teachers to check in regarding how our Year 7’s are tracking. If you would like further information regarding how to best support your child, please don’t hesitate to reach out directly to your child’s teacher via their email.

Thursday September 11 was R U Okay Day and it was fantastic to see so many students our whole school breakfast. Year 7’s then participated in a workshop, Supporting Friendships Workshop, which was facilitated by the Banyule City Council. Thursday was also the day of the Year 7 Round Robin where students represented EHS in Basketball, Table Tennis and Fuse Ball.

As we move to the end of term 3, please continue to check in with your young person to help support them to stay on top of their work. Please have a look at Compass Learning Tasks to see what needs completion as well as task outlines and due dates. If you have any questions at all regarding work, please reach out to classroom teachers via their email.

A kind reminder to please communicate any challenges with attendance to the school. This can be achieved by entering this information through Compass and adding a ‘parent note’ to communicate to teachers and staff why your child is absent. This information is vital to help us to meet your young person at their point of need and offer additional supports when required. Additionally, please communicate any planned absences to your child’s coordinator. Note that planned extended absences need to be communicated and confirmed by Vincent Sicari, but this can be achieved via communications with your child’s coordinator.

What a fantastic way to end term 3. We hope that everyone has a safe and relaxing term break, and we look forward to seeing everyone back for an action-packed term 4.
