Bonjour Parents and Students!

Over the past two weeks, our students have been doing some wonderful work in French!

In week 7, grades prep-4 completed their written assessments and demonstrated what they have learned in class. Here is a snapshot of what each year level has been exploring in week 8:

  • Prep: We revisited farm animals and practiced writing them with colours.
  • Grade 1: Students explored different celebrations around the world.
  • Grade 2: We worked on formal and informal greetings, learning when to use them, and students created a comic to practise.
  • Grade 3: Students wrote about themselves and their families, using photos to illustrate their writing.
  • Grade 4: We studied French pronunciation rules, including silent consonants, and learned that letters like k, w, and sh are uncommon in French.
  • Grades 5 & 6: Students focused on French pronunciation rules and the “lazy mouth rules” (les liaisons). They also explored informal words and phrases commonly used by young French speakers.
