Performing Arts News

Hi Tarneit Rise families,

Welcome to Week 8’s Performing Arts newsletter. We hope you are all enjoying this term of learning. Below is what students are exploring and consolidating in Performing Arts this fortnight.

Last week, Prep students continued to rehearse their whole class dance that they created in week 6. Students worked on refining their dance steps and memorizing the various movements. This week, Prep students are performing their whole class dance to either another class or performing it to their class in groups.

In weeks 7 & 8, Grade 1 & 2 students continued to work on their group song using the glockenspiels and other percussion instruments to make the music more interesting. Grade 1 & 2 students will be performing their group songs to their classmates in week 9.

Last week, the Grade 3 students began creating their own class song by composing a melody and using C major and A minor chords to complement it. This week, students are continuing to work on their class song by adding percussion instruments to enhance the rhythm and make it more engaging.

In weeks 7 & 8, the Grade 4 students continued to work on their class song. They connected the chords we’ve learnt (C, G & F major & A minor) with the melody they made in week 6. Students have added percussion instruments to complement their song and make it more interesting. They have thought about the elements of music and how to include them in their song, such as changing the dynamics in the music by starting it softly and making it louder in different parts of the song.

Last week, the Grade 5 students revised the chords they had learnt and focused on following different strumming patterns with a 4/4 beat while changing between chords to play various songs. This week, they are focusing on playing the rhythm while working with a group and staying in time with each other.

Last week and this week, the Grade 6 students revised the chords they have learnt and focused on following different strumming patterns with a 4/4 beat while changing between chords. The Grade 6s can choose between ukulele and keyboard for how they want to practise their chord changes.

Have a wonderful weekend and see you next week in the Performing Arts room
