Student Voice : Heights Campus
For the last 2 weeks, the Heights Campus had a turn to go swimming. This is an important skill as students learn swimming strokes, but also how to be safe in the water. Everyone had lots of fun during the 8 days, especially on the fun day at the end of swimming. We swam on Monday to Thursday for two weeks. Everyone in the school that went was extremely excited and happy when they were there.
“Swimming was very fun because I could go with my friends. The fun day was my favourite day because I got to go on the floating obstacle course and hang out with my friends that weren’t in the same group as me.” - Saanvi, 5/6A
The Grade 5s have also had an opportunity to go to Keysborough Secondary College- Banksia Campus. They experienced Art, Science and PE lessons and they had so much fun getting a taste of what high school would be like!
A quote from Holly in 5/6B was “I enjoyed experiencing what it would be like in High School.”
Footy Colors Day
On Monday the 8th of September the whole school participated in Footy Colors Day! Footy Colors Day is a time where you get to wear your favourite sport team colors or shirt. Everyone had so much fun! The F-2 students had a competition on the fake grass where they had to kick the ball closest to the cone. The 3-6 did the same activity, but on the oval. Students who came first received a zooper dooper. Thank you to all the students and staff who donated money towards Children’s Cancer. We raised $201.00
As part of their Projects unit the JLC went to Scienceworks in Spotswood. They crossed the West Gate Bridge which they found very exciting. They watched a movie about planets in the Planeterium, where they got to lay down on special recliner seats. Then they explored lots of other scientific things such as light and sound and how things move. Finally, they ate lunch together, then travelled back to school with big smiles on their faces!
Something exciting is coming up very soon, between the 20th of September and the 5th of October. It's the school holidays!!! Make sure you rest to get ready to come back to school after the two weeks are over. Also, remember your safety hand if something happens or you want to talk about something because the school holidays are a long time and you won't be able to talk to the teachers or other adults at school during the holidays.
Remember to play outdoors, not just on your devices, but put on sunscreen to prevent sunburn, and put on a hat and long sleeves.
We hope everyone has a very safe and fun holiday time. Remember school returns on Monday 6th October. Please bring your hat as the sun will be getting hotter!
