Assistant Principal

Mr. Joshua Simpson  7 & 8

Welcome back to all our students, families, and staff after what I am certain has been a well-earned break. I hope that everyone was able to take some time to recharge their batteries and is ready and excited for what term four brings.

I would like to begin by congratulating the efforts of all our students in term 3. The term can be a challenging one and having looked over the progress reports, it is fantastic to see all wonderful progress the students are making. Students will be formally acknowledged in week two and three at the awards assemblies where students will receive outstanding attitude to learning awards.

A new term brings with it a whole new set of exciting experiences. There are many exciting things coming up this term to be aware of.

On October 21st the school will be hosting its annual Spring Concert, showcasing the many musical talents of our student cohort. There is a matinee performance for some of our local primary schools during the day as well as an evening performance for our school community that will be running from 6pm in the Hall. The concert is free, and all are encouraged to attend.

Our school fun runs will be occurring this term as well. On Wednesday October 8th years 10 – 12 competed in the school’s fun run and colour run, earning points for their houses and enjoying some time in the sun. The fun run for years 7 – 9 will occur during activities week at the end of the year.

A reminder that Teeth on Wheels will be visiting Lalor Secondary College the week beginning Monday October 20th. Thank you to all families that returned their forms, as well as those that engaged in the online sign up. We are looking forward to working with teeth on wheels and supporting good oral health within the community.

Through out the term there are a number of other activities that will be occurring and that are exciting to be aware of. They include middle years excursions to the zoo and Williamstown beach, Year 9 Advance camp, Year 12 last day celebrations, VCAA and LSC exams, the Arts Showcase, state chess finals, and transition experiences preparing for 2026.

Speaking of transition, Lalor Secondary College is looking forward to welcoming its newest group of students this term and plans are already underway. During term four, a key group of staff will be visiting our local primary schools to meet and greet our students and answer any important questions they have. In addition to this there are three important dates coming up this term to be aware of. Our ‘Getting to Know You’ day is held on Wednesday the 5th of November, where prospective students will visit the college to undertake of essential testing.  The year 7 information evening for our transitioning students will be held on Tuesday the 25th of November, which will be our first opportunity to speak directly to the families of our new arrivals.

Our Pre-Orientation Day will be held on Friday the 5th of December where a small group of students will explore the college and familiarize themselves with it for the first time. And finally, Statewide Transition Day is on Tuesday the 9th of December where we will welcome our entire 2026-year 7 cohort to the school for their first formal experience as secondary school students.
