Welcome back to all our Year 9 and 10 students and families.
It has been a pleasure to see our students return with energy, enthusiasm, and focus for the final term of 2025. Term 4 is a long one — twelve full weeks — and it is important that students are prepared for the sustained effort ahead following the shorter Term 3. This term plays a crucial role in helping students consolidate their learning, reflect on their progress, and prepare for their transition to the next year level in 2026.
We ended Term 3 on a high note with the Year 10 Formal, a wonderful celebration for both students and staff. The evening was a highlight of the school year — filled with great music, laughter, and pride in our students. Their behaviour, presentation, and enthusiasm were exceptional, and it was a pleasure to celebrate this milestone event together.
Thank you to the Year 10 team and staff who arranged and supported the night — it was a fantastic way to recognise the achievements of our students as they prepare to enter their senior years.
This term offers a wide range of engaging experiences across the Middle School.
Our Year 9 students will soon visit Werribee Zoo, extending their classroom learning into real-world contexts through hands-on environmental and biological studies. Students will have the opportunity to explore animal adaptations, ecosystems, and conservation efforts — linking directly to their current Science curriculum.
Our Year 9 Advance program continues to challenge and inspire students through outdoor education. One group completed their hike on Friday, October 10, and the second group is off hiking today! These experiences build resilience, teamwork, and leadership — skills that students carry with them well beyond the classroom.
Meanwhile, our Year 10 Genetics students attended a Melbourne Zoo excursion on Friday, October 10, where they explored genetics and biodiversity in action. These experiences support our ongoing focus on applied learning, where students connect their theoretical studies with meaningful, hands-on activities.
This week we are celebrating Arts Week, with a wide range of creative activities and displays across the college. Our talented Arts staff have organised workshops, performances, and exhibitions showcasing student work in visual art, music, media, and drama. Please stay tuned to Compass for updates and opportunities for students to participate and celebrate creativity at LSC!
We look forward to recognising the outstanding effort and progress of our students in our upcoming Progress Awards Assemblies.
These events are a valuable opportunity to celebrate students who have shown dedication, academic growth, and commitment to our college values throughout the year.
As always, we continue to maintain high expectations for all Middle School students. This means arriving at school on time, being in full school uniform, bringing the necessary resources to every class, and being ready to learn. Consistent attendance, punctuality, and engagement are essential foundations for success.
Families will have seen my recent Compass post regarding the use of mobile phones and AirPods. If you have not yet read this, I encourage you to take a moment to review it, as it outlines important reminders and expectations that support a focused learning environment for all students.
The remainder of Term 4 will move quickly, with assessments, celebrations, and transition activities ahead. I encourage all Year 9 and 10 students to stay organised, seek support when needed, and take pride in their learning as we work together toward a successful end to the year.
