Acting Principal

Ms. Laura Forster

Welcome back to all our Lalor families and students. I hope that you all had a restful holiday break and are looking forward to the final term of the year. Spring is finally making an entrance, and the warmer weather and sunshine is certainly appreciated.

During the break, our community was saddened to hear of the sudden the passing of past staff member, Ms. Georgia Flaskas who taught with us here at LSC several years back. Georgia was a devoted English teacher and college Librarian and had worked across several schools during her time as a teacher. She will be dearly missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing her.

Term four signals closing in on the final school weeks for our year 12 students and the continuation of rigorous exam preparation to ensure the best possible final results. Over the holidays, year 12 students sat their indicative exams which provided a valuable opportunity to practice for the coming exams. A reminder to families of year 12 students that Edrolo is a useful resource the school has provided for our year 12 students free of charge, which allows for fantastic and engaging revision opportunities, including the ability to go back and watch videos of concepts students may need to revisit, many unit quizzes and practice exam questions. Each student completing a unit three and four subject has a code to access this platform. Please encourage your child to make the most of this opportunity as part of their final revision routine. Each year, including this, we are proud of our graduating students, who continue to be outstanding role models to our younger students in both their behaviour and achievement. I would like to wish our year 12 students all the best of luck for their final weeks of formal schooling and study approaching exams.

I am certain that our students will have the necessary confidence in their preparation and hard work to approach these coming exams with positivity and diligence. We wish you great success in the path you choose beyond Lalor Secondary College. Your growing resilience and strong spirit will place you favorably in realizing your future pathways and life goals. Be sure to remain in touch with us here at LSC and keep us updated on all the wonderful opportunities that are sure to come your way.

We will have a final formal opportunity to farewell and celebrate the achievements of these fabulous year 12 students at this year’s Graduation Ceremony on December the 15th, when we look forward to enjoying a dinner with students and their families.

Our LSC careers counsellor Jade Charalambous has been having individual tertiary counselling sessions with students in year 12, please do not hesitate to give her a call at the college if you or your child have questions regarding tertiary requirements or processes regarding entry programs for courses. Students can find Ms. Charalambous located in the wellbeing precinct on the ground floor of the Library Arts building behind reception.

We are currently working hard behind the scenes planning our curriculum program for 2026. We are proud to continue to provide highly stimulating and rich educational programs across all year levels and offer an extensive breadth of VCE, and VCE/ VM subjects in our senior years. Staff have continued to undertake the most up to date professional learning programs to ensure excellence in teaching, educational support and wellbeing practices.

Every student here at LSC is offered the opportunity to experience success and to reach their full potential in a learning environment that promotes academic excellence and a strong sense of community.  We continue to place emphasis on trying to establish in our students a strong work ethic and encourage students to take responsibility for their individua learning. Our Progress Reports, which were recently released on compass, are a measure your child’s teachers use to support this development in your child. If you haven’t already, please log on and discuss your child’s results to support these lifelong skills and develop the motivation necessary in becoming independent self-reliant learners.

Effective communication between home and school is crucial for a student’s academic and personal success. Good communication also creates a collaborative and supportive environment that helps to resolve any concerns.

Please reach out to me, any of our assistant principal team or year level managers if you require any assistance or support.
