Grade 2 Persuasive Writing & Police Visit

Our Grade 2 students were tasked with a very important job a few weeks ago - they needed to write persuasive letters in response to reading the book The True Story of the Three Little Pigs to explain why the Big Bad Wolf had to stay locked up in jail. Our students had to be extra persuasive and attentive to their writing skills, because all of their letters were getting sent to the real Police!

Over 70 letters made their way to Maryborough and were picked up in the Divisional Van for delivery to the Maryborough Police Station. For a week, the officers spent time going through the letters and reading what our students had to say - and needless to say, they were pretty impressed!

Last week, the Grade 2 students received a special visit from 3 officers from Maryborough station, who came to St Therese's with some certificates to congratulate our students on their fantastic writing. Our students got to learn a bit about a Police Officer's job and were presented with some activity booklets to take home as well.

We would like to say a very big thank you to Senior Constable Dan McGregor, First Constable Liam Holligan and Constable Markus Gatt for making the trip over to visit our students and answer so many of their fantastic questions.

"On Tuesday, the Maryborough Police came to our school. They showed us what they wear, and they said that it's like carrying another you all day!

Then we asked some questions about their job. They also gave each class a certificate for our awesome job with our persuasive letters and gave all of us an activity book and a Police ID card."     - Junior 2 Students

Graduate Outcome Awards

Over the last fortnight, teachers have been on the lookout for students who show the Graduate Outcome of WISDOM.

Students who graduate from St Therese’s Primary School are people of WISDOM, who strive to achieve their full potential through a love of learning.

Last week, we celebrated and acknowledged these students at our assembly with our awards presentation.

Our next focus will be on the Graduate Outcome of COURAGE.

Got some old football boots lying around at home?

Some SEDA students are collecting boots to donate to those in need, just like some of the people Perry met recently. If you have some old boots taking up space at your place, then bring them in and place them in the box in the office.

Catholic Athletics

After being postponed due to the very wet weather, we were blessed with more favourable conditions the following week. Well done to every one of the 75 students who represented our school so well both on and off the track and gave 100% in their events.

Congratulations to the 21 athletes who progressed to the SSV Division Track & Field Championships on 15th September.

SSV Division Basketball

During the Basketball SSV tournament the boys and the girls had an amazing time.

The boys played outstanding, winning all their games and coming out on top after a hard-fought Grand final. The nearly lost to Maiden Gully, but they didn't drop their heads showing resilience and determination.

The girls showed great sportsmanship, having a similar result as the boys, but unfortunately after playing a very intense triple overtime, lost to St Francis.

We would like to thank our awesome coaches, Mr McInnes and Miss Marchingo for all the support and help throughout the day and we can't forget the person that makes it all possible, Mrs Woods.
