ReCranked Program
ReCranked is a hands-on program that uses bikes to foster an environment to build new skills, confidence and teamwork. Ballarat Community Health have run this program during Term Three, with twelve 5/6 students.
The students worked in groups to clean and repair bikes, donated by our school community. They used tools, ran test rides, fixed gears and cleaned rust, all working together with Tom and Fiona from Ballarat Community Health. The now repaired bikes will be returned to the school community looking fresh and working well.
At the conclusion of the Term, the students involved report they have a greater sense of responsibility in looking after their own bikes, as well as now having the skills to repair them. The students would like to thank Emily, Tom and Fiona for organising and running the program, and Ronny for letting the bikes live in his shed during Term Three.
