NAPLAN REPORTS AVAILABLE
Individual NAPLAN reports have been available for collection by parents and caregivers from the Enright Campus office since the beginning of Term 3. Individual reports not collected by 19 September will be mailed home to families during the Term 3 holiday break.
NAPLAN is a valuable instrument for gaining an insight into a student’s progress at a point in time; however, these results should not be viewed in isolation. Please ensure that when you are looking at these results as parents and students, you are also taking the time to reflect on feedback provided by your child’s work in their assessment tasks available on the Parent Access Module.
MID SEMESTER PROGRESS REPORTS/ STUDENT PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES
Mid Semester Progress Reports will be available to students and parents after 9.00am on Friday 19 September. These reports provide students and parents with an insight into their work practices so far this term, their attendance and an indication as to their academic progress to this point of the semester.
Students and parents will have the opportunity to discuss these reports at the Student/Parent/Teacher Conferences on Tuesday 14 October between 4.00pm and 7.00pm. These conferences will again be held both face-to-face and virtually and bookings will open as soon as reports are released and will close on Monday 13 October at 3.30pm.
ASSESSMENT EXPECTATIONS – TERM 3
September is a good time for parents and students to access the Parent Access Module and/or their Learning Areas platform to review their academic performance to this point of the semester.
The general expectation is that students and parents will have at least one assessment task available for review in each subject that has been completed this term. We recommend making time to reflect on this single task before between three and five assessments become available by the end of the semester. Up to five assessments might not sound like much, but by the time our typical Year 7 and 8 student completes eight subjects, this can amount to over 30 pieces of formal assessment for an 18-week semester.
Please take the time to review your child’s progress with them and set some goals for the end of Term 4.
ICAS TESTING – TERM 3
During Weeks 3, 4, 5 and 6 of this term, over 50 students completed a range of tests in the field of Digital Technology, Writing, English, Mathematics and Science. These tests are conducted by an independent organisation and are developed to challenge students at a higher level than they may otherwise experience in a typical classroom environment.
We have started to receive results for the early tests, and it has been pleasing to see a number of students receive Merits and Credits for their efforts. These efforts will be recognised during future College assemblies.
