YEAR 11 EVENTS

The Year 11 students have recently returned from the Snow Camp to Perisher. I am reliably informed by Mr Kluske that it has been the best snow season in recent memory and that the students had an amazing experience. Thank you to the college staff for keeping the students safe on the slopes.

A large number of our Year 11 cohort are currently participating in Australian Business Week (ABW). This is an excellent opportunity to develop real skills needed in the world of business, albeit in a simulated context. It involves problem-based learning in a team building environment, the creation of a product, and the management of a hospitality business. Take a look at all the ABW excitement on the Humanities page.

WEAR IT PURPLE DAY

The college celebrated Wear it Purple Day on Thursday 28 August. This day, dedicated to supporting and celebrating young people who identify as LGBTQIA+, started as an Australian student-run initiative and has grown into an international movement. Thank you to Mrs Amanda Morrison and the Rainbow Alliance who led the celebrations at the college. Their lunchtime bake sale raised over $450 for youth charity Minus18.

UNIFORM

As we move into warmer weather, we remind students that they are required to wear the summer uniform for Term 4. I encourage all students to try on their uniform over the holidays to see if any alterations are required and remind students that dress lengths should be at or below the knee.

While students are no longer required to wear their blazer to school and morning Homeroom, Term 4 marks the return of the Sunsmart Policy, where students are required to wear the college hat for any prolonged period of time, including recess and lunch.

We will bring in some further options for the college uniform in 2026. As a result of ongoing requests from students and the community, boys will be permitted to wear grey college shorts with the college grey socks (with double purple bands) in summer and winter. Boys can continue to wear the grey college trousers if this is their preference. We will also be introducing a ‘capri’ or shorter version of the PE shorts as another option.

Please note that to support families that struggle to get to the Uniform Shop, the college can arrange for uniform items to be delivered to the college.

FOOTY COLOURS DAY

The college celebrated Footy Colours Day on Wednesday 3 September. It was great to see students dressed up in their team colours in the lead-up to the AFL finals series. The hot dogs were also a hit at the canteen on the day.

Congratulations also to the students in our community who played in the SFNL, basketball, soccer and hockey finals.

YEAR 7 & YEAR 9 CAMPS

Our Year 7 students were on camp in Victor Harbor and returned on Friday 12 September, whilst our Year 9 students headed off to Central Australia on Thursday 11 September and will return on the last day of term. Check out this page for highlights of the amazing experiences on these camps.

R U OK? DAY

The college celebrated R U OK? Day on Thursday 11 September. This National Day of Action encourages Australians to have meaningful conversations with people in their lives who may be struggling, with the aim of preventing mental health issues from becoming more serious. The message for 2025 was to remember that we don't need to wait for R U OK? Day. Everyone can check in with friends and loved ones by asking 'Are you OK?' on any day of the year.
