HEALTH & PE

The college recently held its annual Athletics Carnival under perfect sunny conditions, a fantastic day for students and staff alike. Participation and enthusiasm were outstanding. MacKillop House, led by Mr Michael Quin, continued their strong form from the Cross Country Carnival and claimed another trophy. Congratulations to them and also to our individual event champions, who proudly represented the college at the SSVS level on 3 September.

LIFE SAFE: MAKING SMART CHOICES BEYOND THE CLASSROOM

Year 8 students have been exploring the important skills needed to stay safe in a variety of real-life situations through the Life Safe program. From water safety, road safety, and sun safety to understanding the risks of sending intimate photos, students have learned how to make informed decisions that protect themselves and others. The program also highlighted responsible online communication, helping students navigate digital spaces with confidence and care. As part of their assessment, students are required to make choices in different scenarios. They then need to justify their decisions and actions and suggest safer alternatives. By connecting classroom learning to everyday life, Life Safe has equipped students with the knowledge and skills to make responsible, thoughtful choices outside of school.

CONSENT AND THE LAW: YEAR 9 SESSION WITH ALLIE COLLYER

Year 9 students recently participated in an important session on consent and the law, led by Allie Collyer of Mallee Family Care. The workshop provided a safe and engaging environment for students to learn about legal rights and responsibilities, respectful relationships, and the importance of clear communication. Through discussions and real-life scenarios, students explored how consent applies in different situations and gained strategies to make safe and ethical decisions. The session reinforced the significance of respecting boundaries and understanding the legal and personal implications of one’s actions. It offered students the knowledge they need to develop responsible and respectful relationships.
