Haven Service Reminders

Child Safety and Wellbeing- family phone usage

Haven places the safety and wellbeing of every child in our care as our highest priority. At Haven, we are committed to maintaining a safe, nurturing and transparent environment and are always here to answer any questions or concerns family may have.

With recent Regulatory changes and Child Safety reforms from the 1st September 2025 all staff personal devices that are capable of taking and storing images/videos are banned from child environments/ rooms. This legislative change helps to uphold the safety of all children across every early childhood education and care service, with the use of only service issued devices for photos/ videos ands recordings.

These changes also include any allied health professionals, mentors, students or third party programs (such as incursions) that come into an education service and engage directly with children.

While these restrictions do not apply to families and visitors dropping off/ picking up children, we at Haven Early Learning are asking that your phones kept in your in pockets/cars are not used within the children's rooms. If you are needing to make a phone call/ message/ be on your phone you are welcome to remain in reception. For service events  all families and/ or visitors must understand that they are not permitted to photograph and/or video their child/ any children within our care rooms and environments.

We appreciate your support and understanding in ensuring Haven Early Learning remains a place of safety and will continue to share with families as more changes/ procedures/ regulations comes into place. Thankyou for your ongoing support. More information can be read here: https://www.vic.gov.au/child-safe-practices-digital-technologies-and-personal-electronic-devices

Carpark Safety

Please ensure the gate to the carpark is closed behind you and latched into place. Having this gate closed is so valuable to keeping children safe and the responsibility of adults.

We also ask that children are not running out of their room and into reception by themselves with the risk of the door being open and children getting into the carpark.

Lastly, when you are dropping or picking up your child/children and need any assistance, just call us and we will come and help you. With Haven’s Child Safe Standards and Centre policies we can not have any child left alone and unsupervised in a car. If you are needing  to leave your child in the car due to unforeseen circumstances, give us a call and an Educator can come and sit in the car while you do the drop off/pick up.

2026 Enrolments & Transitions

Our Sun, Forest (Kinder) and Field room would have now received enrolment offers and confirmations for 2026.

If you have yet to receive this please reach out and we will re-send.

For River Room and Forest (childcare) we are aiming to have these offers out by 13th October, please bear with us as we have very busy rooms, a large waitlist (internal and external) multiple families and limited spaces on each day.

For those children who will be moving to a new room they will commence in their new rooms from the 5th of January 2026.

This date will be reflective of your new bookings for 2026, unless holidays are noted or other arrangements are requested.

Transitions into their new rooms will commence across Term 4 2025.

  • Transitions may include engaging in group times, open gate play, having meals together, group experiences and/or free play.
  • Flexible transitions across the term are done with familiar current educators to the children alongside their peers to support children's sense of belonging and comfort while exploring a new environment. This open approach helps promote the new room as a positive experience/ room and not be so overwhelming for the children.
  • We will work to balance & rotate transitions to ensure all children have ample time transitions.
  • Families are always welcome to view all rooms at Haven at drop-off / pick-up to gain an understanding of the environment and curriculum. Please do not hesitate to ask.
