St Joseph’s Food Drive -Putting Our Faith into Action
At St Joseph’s, our Catholic identity calls us to put our faith into action by recognising the needs of others and responding with compassion, generosity and love.
This term, our school community is proudly supporting Foodbank Victoria through our Food Drive. This initiative provides our students with a meaningful opportunity to understand that living our faith extends beyond what we learn in the classroom. It is reflected in the choices we make, the way we care for others and our willingness to serve those who may be experiencing hardship.
Jesus teaches us to “Love your neighbour as yourself” (Matthew 22:39). Through our Foodbank collection, students and families can live out this message in a very practical way. Each item donated contributes to supporting individuals and families experiencing food shortages within our wider community.
Our Food Drive also connects strongly with the Catholic Social Teaching principles of Human Dignity, the Common Good and Preferential Option for the Poor. We are reminded that every person deserves to be treated with dignity and that, as members of a Catholic community, we each have a responsibility to contribute to a more just and compassionate world.
We have already been so grateful to see donations beginning to arrive at school and encourage families who are able to contribute to continue bringing items in over the coming weeks.
Please see the Foodbank poster below for our collection date, suggested donations and important information about what can be accepted.
Thank you to our St Joseph’s families for your continued generosity and support. Together, even small acts of kindness can have a significant impact and show our students what it truly means to live our faith through service to others.
