Grade 6

Over the past two weeks in Literacy, Grade 6 students have continued reading Us Mob: Walawurru, deepening their understanding of Indigenous culture, perspectives, and storytelling. Students have engaged in thoughtful discussions and reflections as they explored the themes and experiences presented throughout the text.
Students have also completed their factual recounts about the Australian 1967 Referendum. This learning task helped students develop their research and writing skills while building their understanding of an important event in Australian history and its impact on Indigenous Australians.
In Mathematics, students have completed their learning on fractions for now and will revisit this topic again in Term 3. They have also been exploring shapes and cross-sections, using mathematical language such as parallel and perpendicular to describe and analyse different figures.
Students are thoroughly enjoying their Humanities unit, where they have been investigating a variety of countries within the Asian and Pacific regions and learning about their cultures, geography, and traditions.
6A and 6C also participated in the Kids Roar program, which focused on helping students understand how to stay safe both at school and online.
