Friendships

We hope all of our students and families enjoyed a restful break and are feeling refreshed for what promises to be another busy and rewarding term in Wellbeing and Inclusion.

It has been wonderful to see how positively students have returned to school.  After a full term of settling in, many students are now feeling more confident in their routines and are beginning to strengthen and form new friendships.  Students from all cultures are learning and playing together, building connections that reflect and celebrate the diversity of our school community.

At the heart of these friendships is Respect, and this value plays an important role in how students interact with one another each day.  We encourage students to show kindness, listen to others, and appreciate different perspectives, cultures and experiences.  Students can practise respect in their friendships in many simple, everyday ways, including:

  • Listening carefully when others are speaking
  • Using kind and inclusive language
  • Being open to different ideas, cultures and perspectives
  • Taking turns and sharing fairly

Respect in friendships also means being understanding when disagreements happen and working through problems calmly and fairly.  Encouraging students to apologise when needed, forgive others, and seek help from a trusted adult, when necessary, helps to build strong, positive and lasting friendships.

We hope the friendships formed between students at Lucas Primary School continue to grow and last well beyond primary school.

Support Services

The Wellbeing and Inclusion Team at Lucas Primary School continues to support families who may be experiencing challenges in a variety of circumstances.  Please see below the SAFEMinds (Schools and Families Enhancing Minds) flyer. This flyer is a useful directory for different types of family supports.
