Student Achievements

Congratulations to the following students:

Alicia Dale (Year 12), who recently competed in five major tennis tournaments in the north of the state. Alicia made the finals in both singles and doubles at the Junior Burnie International (J100) event in late January. On 8 February, Alicia won the Junior Launceston International (J100) singles title and was also a finalist in the doubles. She then competed at the Women's Open tournament in Devonport, where she became a finalist in the doubles event.

With this recent success, Alicia was awarded a wildcard into the Burnie International Pro Tournament. She made the most of the opportunity by defeating the number one seed from Japan in the first round. In the second round, Alicia faced another Japanese player but was defeated in a closely fought match. Demonstrating her ability to compete at this level against established professionals, Alicia was also awarded a wildcard into the Main Draw of the Launceston International (W35) the following week.

The College is incredibly proud of Alicia's achievements and looks forward to her continued success.

Sydney Howlett (Year 8), who showcased her talent as a senior member of the Tasmanian Youth Classical Ballet Company in the recent production Relâche: The Last Dance on Earth. This avant-garde performance was a collaborative effort between The Second Echo Ensemble, the Tasmanian Youth Classical Ballet Company and Hobart's Mature Artists Dance Experience. Sydney, along with her fellow dancers, delivered a thought-provoking and captivating performance, making it an extraordinary experience for all involved. Well done, Sydney! Your dedication and talent are truly commendable.

Sienna Bent (Year 8), who took to the water to compete in the Paddle Australia Age National Canoe Slalom Championships in January. Sienna's team delivered a strong performance, placing second in the kayak teams event. Sienna also excelled in the individual kayak event, securing third place as part of a canoe pair. An incredible achievement! Well done, Sienna.

Evelyn Fraser (Year 3), who participated in the Tasmanian Regional Championships (swimming) late last year, earning a silver medal in breaststroke and a bronze medal in the relay. In February, she competed at the Huon Valley Medal meet, where she achieved an outstanding haul of four gold medals, one silver and two bronze medals across her eight events.

Now, Evelyn is set to be the youngest Tasmanian competitor at the 2025 Tasmanian State Championships from 7–10 March. She is the only eight-year-old to achieve the qualifying times for the State Championships – a huge achievement to kick off the year. Great job, Evelyn! Wishing you the best of luck in the upcoming championships!
